Trends in Education and Organization case study
Looking into the required resources for this week’s discussion, what had stood out for me was there was a lot of information in the articles that were and can be helpful in the learning and organization processes. “Learning from experience explains how organizations sustain resilience in the face of disaster, crisis and breakdown” (Kayes, K.D. 2015). Learning and organization can go hand in hand, such as we continue to learn more information, we continue to be more organized in the process. We learn things outside of school; in our jobs, we get more training to learn different things, which we will need to get the information organized. “When learning from experience break downs, the organization becomes vulnerable.” (Kayes, K.D 2015) If the learning process is wrong or if there is a missed step, then the organization is not correct, and you will have to start over. When you start over, you make sure that the process of learning and organization is accurate. Sometimes, you cannot be taught everything in life; you have to learn from experience. As we have seen that the world is changing and the way we get information is different, we are always learning new things and must organize the information we had to do before. Again, it’s learning with the times or the life changes. Also, another thing that stuck out was that some of the articles had talked about how some of the trends of learning and organization learning are also changing. I had stated that the times have changed, and the process has changed also. However, it went into detail about the areas and gave examples of what has changed and how it can help. Learning never stops if you don’t want it to. For my personal development, I see myself as a lifelong learner, but I also see myself as an organization learner. I have noticed the older that I am getting, the more I want to learn. When I was in school when I was younger, I wanted nothing to do with learning because it was hard for me, but once I got into high school, that’s when it started. Because of my learning disabilities, I wanted to learn new things and try the challenging classes and programs in school. Also, I was shot down and was told it was not going to work, but I provided them wrong. From then on, I would push myself because I was told I could not do it, and now I just like learning new things or getting more information on the things I know about. ‘Vast differences between learning behaviors, personalization in learning is even more important.” (Valmis2018) This statement stuck out to me because it seems like its stating what I had indicated about my learning. Personalization can drive how a person wants to learn and what they want to learn about. We know that long-life learning can help us achieve work goals, personal goals, and education goals that can fulfill life satisfaction. So, learning is an aspect of organizations and a subfield of organizational studies for the organization. An aspect of a organization, organizational learning is creating, retaining, and transferring knowledge. (EGE, T., ESEN, A., & AŞIK DİZDAR, Ö. 2017) I like things to be organized, which helps me in my learning process. In this study about Organizational Learning and Learning Organizations, it can down to that “Learning and how it is managed in organizations is a key strategic issue.” (EGE, T., ESEN, A., & AŞIK DİZDAR, Ö. 2017) It does matter that they go hand in hand in the process. What ethical principles have I learned about that can be used in the workplace, counseling others, or teaching. I have learned a lot in each class that I have taken so far. I know the basics of the ethical codes, like make, are there is a release signed, you cannot discuss anything about the client you are working with unless there is a release sign for you to talk to another person. No relationship with your clients, such as being friends or other relationships. But it is something that you must stay upon and make sure that what you are doing is following along with the codes and conduct of the APA ethical codes. I think it is good that we have to go in there look things up to make sure we are doing the best for the person we are providing therapy or service to make sure we are not making any mistakes before we get into the field. So that we know what is right and wrong, that’s why I like learning because if we have a question about what we are doing, we can look it up before it can get worse. All the required readings have some very good information that can really take us as students as well as individuals far in life. As I read through the required reading from Valamis (2020), what stood out to me as important were the benefits of lifelong learning. According to Valamis (2020) there are many long-term benefits that can be offered but the four that was mentioned was: renewed self- esteem, recognition of personal interests and goals, improvement in other personal and professional skills, and improved self- confidence. Those benefits can take a person far in life. With the required reading from Andreev (2018), I overall find it interesting in how trends can bring about change with the use of technology and ways in which information is gathered. What stood out as important to me from this required reading is the possible applications of artificial intelligence in the forms of learning. Andreev (2018) shared in the reading three possible applications, and they are: personalized intelligent learning analytics, intelligent automation, and digital learning assistant. With these three possible applications it is clearly being used in ways that we see around us. Some examples are through Google Assistant and I-ready (which is something that my daughter does at school with learning on the level that is appropriate for her). Moving on to the required reading from Menendez Blanco (2018) this reading is seen as a must to review as in can relate to workplace and how to handle things when or if needed. What stood out as important to me is when the writer Menendez Blanco (2018) made the point that “Kayes insights combines management learning with organizational disaster research in a four-stage model of learning breakdown built from Turner’s model of organizational and inter-organizational disaster.” The four-learning stage are local stage, control stage, open stage, and then deep learning stage which all goes from one to another. With the required reading from Ege et al. (2017) what stood out as important to me was the section on Organizational learning vs Learning Organizations. This section stood out as important to me because of the fact of understanding the differences between both and how if they may share similarities while working in an organization, we as workers will be able to understand how things work in both. My personal development in the learning and cognition domains have matured in ways of how I may take on others form of how individuals process information. Not everybody may comprehend or interpret information like others. By learning some of the many ways of learning and cognition role in things it has helped me in how I will work with the children that I work with. I understand that even though I may have 5 students in the 7th graders, I will have to get on a different level with each of them to where they may understand me as their community support individual and be able to comprehend the information that is being disbursed or activity being done for participation. I must say that I do see myself as a life-longer leaner. The reason why I say that I do is because I am always for developing a new skill, especially becoming better at sewing, because I want to get better at it. Something else that makes me see myself acquiring in new knowledge outside of school and through online education. According to Valamis (2022), “whether pursing personal interests and passions or chasing professional ambitions, lifelong learning can help us to achieve personal fulfillment and satisfaction.” With that being stated, that is what I want to do. When working with others we should always consider confidentiality. We cannot be giving out information without permission from individuals or in some cases without consents from a child parent. In a lot of workplaces there are so many things that also should be taken in place, and a few is HIPAA, which stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Consent for Photograph, Release of Information, etc. We as workers must be careful and make sure that we follow all the rule’s protocols that are given from our workplaces. When on the job ethical principles should be in mind. References Andreev, I. (2018). Future of learning: Trends in educational and organizational learning. Valamis.
