My two art pieces from the Islamic world and the Byzantine empire can be found in chapter 9 under figure 9-15, and chapter 10 under figure 10-2. Figure 9-15 showcases a mural mosaic in the “Generally, In Classed” church ca. 533-549. Figure 10-2 presents the interior mosaic of “the Dome of the Rock” ca. 687-692.

- Inside both of these holy places are extravagant mosaics in the apse of the domes, creating similarity and architecture as the dome is surrounded by arched supporting columns underneath that are also covered in mosaics. Both of these mosaics reflect deep religious values in order to represent and signify the holy shrine and church.

- Although these two holy building portray their religious beliefs through similar artistic techniques such as mosaics, I feel there are more differences in the styles of mosaic and the understanding of stories that speak out to specific religious groups.
