The widespread use of social media has had a significant impact on society in terms of how we interact with one another and what is considered normal in general. Examining the ways in which social media alters attitudes and “norms” is a fascinating research topic that may be applied to understanding how society evolves through time.
For this project, you will first do your own study on the influence of social media on society norms (Part 1), and then you will assess what has been discovered via other people’s research (Part 2).
Part One:
Compare and contrast the attitudes of two groups of people: one group of five people who rarely use social media and another group of five people who use social media for two hours or more per day.
Make a list of five people you know who spend at least two hours every day on social media. Your initial cohort will be made up of this set of folks. Then make a list of five people you know who don’t use social media or just use it infrequently. When generating cohorts, consider age and strive to keep the ages of the cohorts as similar as feasible. Maintaining some uniformity across the two cohorts will help to mitigate the consequences of generational disparities. Provide a brief description of each of the ten persons you’ll be interviewing, broken down into cohorts.
In other words, make a list of the five persons with whom you spend at least two hours every day on social media and give a brief description of each, as well as why you chose them. Then make a list of five persons who use social media infrequently or never, along with a brief description of each and why you chose them.
Interview the participants to learn about the similarities and variations in attitudes, lives, and connections between the two cohorts. Compare and contrast what you learnt about the two cohorts in a two-page paper. In your paper, make sure you connect your findings to cultivation and socialization theories.
Part Two:
Now you’ll compare the results of your research to those of past studies. Search the Rasmussen Library for at least three articles on the topic of social media and its impact on society. You are not restricted to publications that are solely focused on the subject of social media and social norms. Articles on social media and culture can be found from a variety of perspectives. Write a two-page report about what you learnt about social media and its possible impact on cultural views, customs, and norms after reading these articles.

The answer is complete. 50 points: The essay illustrates exemplary understanding of the relevant material by thoroughly and correctly addressing the relevant content; identifying and explaining all of the key concepts/ideas; using correct terminology explaining the reasoning behind key points/claims and substantiating, as necessary/useful, points with several accurate and illuminating examples.
