? identify parts of the source that are directly relevant to your topic (eg. chapter titles, page
numbers etc.)
? if only 1 or 2 pages of a source are relevant, the source is not detailed enough, so find a better
one. For example, your textbook is not a good source for research.
– 3 of your best peer reviewed secondary sources must be annotated:
provide a detailed description (10-12 lines long) that explains how the content of the source is
relevant to your research topic
focus on problems and controversies about your topic (where authors disagree and differ from
one another in their understanding of the topic)
