Market segmentation is a marketing strategy that involves selecting a certain number of consumers to provide them with certain products and
services. Market segmentation aims to offer the targeted group products or product lines that appeal to their interests (Lannuzzi, 2014). The
identified targeted groups may be based on demographics, geography, behavior, or even psychographic. Key sectors of market segmentation in
the health care industry can be divided based on medical insurance, medical services, managed care, or even health care services and facilities
(Lannuzzi, 2014). These market segments help focus certain services in health care hence meeting the needs of the identified population. A viable
market segment should have clearly defined brand reception, socio-economic background, and age group. These segments should also be
accessible, measurable, actionable, and differentiable. For example, the organization should understand the level of brand reception through
quantifiable factors such as sales value or even volume (Lannuzzi, 2014). Also, it is crucial to have a plan on how to access the identified market
segment. This includes understanding their socio-economic backgrounds, among other metrics. The segment should also be internally
homogeneous, meaning that the customers should have similar preferences (Lannuzzi, 2014). They should also have similar characteristics to
develop that need to have a certain product or service. My target market is the Hispanics, who make up 96.5% of the total population in East Los
Angeles. From the data, there is an average of 4.1 people in households across East Los Angeles against 2.9 people in other areas in California.
There is also an average of 83.8% of family households against 68.7% in the whole state (City Data.com, 2021). From this data, East Los Angeles
has a huge market for telehealth services. With such a huge population, providing telehealth services for preventive care would help solve the
health care needs of many people. During the current Covid-19 pandemic, offering such services would easily help most Hispanic families’ access
health care services. The service line will provide telehealth services and even telemedicine if there is a need to. Through that, 96.5% of Hispanics
would create a perfect target considering that there are not enough healthcare facilities in the area (Weinstein et al., 2014). Also, providing them
with comprehensive disease management services would ensure that I gain a lot from the expected growth in telehealth services in the next
decades. I will market this service line through a website developed to coordinate these services. I will also market through Hispanic social media
platforms throughout the city (Weinstein et al., 2014). Through that, they will understand the kind of services offered by this platform.
