You are the only one who can decide what tasks each employee is responsible for. If you don’t, each person will step in to fill the hole and form their own idea about what their work entails. This strategy results in not just work gaps, but also overlapping duties.

A job description should include a list of job criteria as well as any standards that will be used to evaluate the position. For example, if an Administrative Assistant’s work entails processing a vital document for your business, you may set a criteria that all start orders must be handled within two days of receipt. This is not the same as how to do a task. A mechanism for describing how to process a start order may be created, but it would be housed in a different document.

List of Tasks:

1. Distribute incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis.
2. Purchase and keep track of office materials
3. Take care of the documentation related to health insurance.
4. Manage the phone and internet service
5. Take care of the computer network service.
6. Maintain records of the President’s and individual progress.
7. Keep Permit/Sales/Construction files organized by lot.
8. Obtain permits from the city
9. Inform subcontractors about the lot start order.

Subcontractors will be given change orders to distribute.

 

11. Coordinate closing dates with the buyer, the bank, and the attorney.
12. Complete the closing paperwork
13. Communicate with the buyer and subcontractors about service needs and keep track of them.

Position Requirements:

3. Respond to service inquiries within 30 days after receiving them.
4. Within two business days of release, process permits, start orders, and modification orders.

Use of Sources (worth a maximum of 20% of the total points). Zero points:  Student failed to include citations and/or references. Or the student failed to submit a final paper. 5 out 20 points:  Sources are seldom cited to support statements and/or format of citations are not recognizable as APA 6th Edition format.
