In the activity, it says judges have the right to determine involvement in social policy. like Ashley said I think judges should follow certain guidelines when they are involved in the policy and only hear certain ones.
I don’t think that the Supreme Court should answer popular opinion. Judges aren’t elected by the general public why should they care. But there are some reasons where they might be persuaded otherwise. Public opinion could
influence which judge is nominated and elected. The second reason could also be that judges may care about the general public opinion for several reasons and may be labeled under “institutional legitimacy” and therefore the
third being people may change their opinions in response to information about what others think. The impact of popular opinion is greatest among moderate judges who are likely to carry critical swing positions on the Court.
