You will respond to the allocated question in a 200–250 word thread in the Discussion Board Forum (s). Keep in mind that this isn’t an essay or a paper; it’s a dialogue. Allow others to criticize, question, and comment on you.
The thread should be well-thought-out and present a compelling case. Specific specifics from the given reading, textbook, and/or lectures should be used to back up your argument.
Fill up the blanks with your own words. If you must quote, keep it to a minimum and make sure to credit your sources.
Introduce evidence from other sources in a clear manner so that the reader understands where the information came from (e.g., According to the presentation…).

While the Discussion Board Forum is open, keep an eye on it.
Respond to two distinct classmates’ threads with at least two replies, engaging them in a dialogue (see below for tips). Each of the two responses must be at least 150 words long.

The Professor’s Opening Remarks:

I’m excited to read your work this week! Here are some things to think about: What is our attitude toward injustice as Christians? And what are we going to do about it? The following questions must be addressed: What is the relationship between Christian beliefs and government action? What safeguards are in place to guarantee that these are carried out equally? Martin Luther King Jr. dared to challenge some deeply held ideas, resulting in grave injustices for African-Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. acted on his strong values against injustices around him in his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Five years later, in April, he was slain in Memphis, Tennessee.

Examine the Old Testament prophets, particularly Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Habakkuk, who forewarned of impending doom. All were contemporaneous witnesses of the Babylonian attack on Jerusalem in 597 BC and its subsequent destruction in 586 BC. Except for Jeremiah, who was sent to Egypt, the majority of the people were banished to Babylon. These prophets not only warned Judea, but they also pleaded with everyone to accept personal responsibility for their own acts and repent. When there is no personal or corporate repentance, God’s character demands that judgment be meted out. Judah sinned against the Lord by worshiping a plethora of false gods, and they sinned against each other by committing institutional inequities, bloodshed, and pillage. “As a result, the law is paralyzed, and justice never triumphs,” Hab 1:4 answered. So since justice is distorted, the wicked hem in the righteous.” When King Jehoshaphat appointed judges (our Founding Fathers correctly followed this Biblical tradition of granting the President the authority to appoint judges), he advised them to “let the fear of the Lord be upon you.” “Judge carefully, for there is no injustice, partiality, or bribery with the Lord our God” (2Chron 19:7).

So, what does this mean for today’s Church? It’s all too easy to cast the finger at others, but Scripture urges us to look into our own hearts. According to 1 Peter 4:17 and Ezek 9:6, judgment begins in the Lord’s home. What has to be cleaned up within each of us? What are the injustices that need to be addressed in our community? We are all created in the image of God, who sees us all equally, therefore let us treat each other with respect.
