You’ll post your Enrichment Activity assignment here. You’ll also be providing comments on the enrichment activities of other students. (Though this is presented in a discussion style and scored as a conversation, it is mentioned in your syllabus as a separate assignment.)
Each student will participate in a course-related enrichment activity. Anything from the Paleolithic Era to around 1530 CE could be an interesting topic 🙂
One option is to go to a museum’s website that focuses on world history and look at their online collections or virtual tours. The British Museum, for example, maintains a website named Museum of the World (Links to an external site.). You may also look into poetry, essays, art, architecture, music, or dancing that corresponds to the cultures and periods we’re learning about. I can also suggest historical documentaries or films that are relevant to the course subjects. Whatever activity you choose, keep in mind how it ties to the concepts we’ve been studying about in class.
Please choose one activity (or two) that will take around 3-4 hours of your time. You’ll spend 2-3 pages writing about what you learned from the assignment. Please make sure you focus on a specific activity, such as visiting an online museum, visiting a historic site, listening to music, reading poetry, playing a historical game, making old dishes, etc. You will be required to write about the experience rather than just provide a list of facts.
Please post your activity in this forum by March 18th, or sooner if you are ready. Please give your activity a title that includes your name and a few words that describe what you investigated when you post in the forum. “BradSufi Poetry,” “MirandaRepublic,” Plato’s or “ZaraMedieval Sephardic Dancing,” for example. Attach your write-up, as well as any photographs or links that will be useful, to a brief note (a few phrases) introducing your activity.
This thread has been set for Week 7 just for this reason. If you share your activity (or activities) as soon as possible, it will give people more time to respond.

You have the option of making the feedback one or two paragraphs long… I strongly advise you to get started! Please be precise about what you learned from them and see if you can connect it to other things you’ve learned.
