Behavioral Influences on Organizational Buying Essay
What are some of the behavioral influences on organizational buying? How do these affect the consumer buying decision? As you reflect on this week’s readings and your personal experience, answer the questions and share at least one connection between consumers and an organization. Think in terms of specifics as there are numerous potential influences and the relationship is often reciprocal.

Many marketing experts believe that an effective marketing strategy starts from understanding consumer purchasing behavior. A consumer is a person who purchases products or services to satisfy a purpose. A consumer can be an individual or an organization. The purchasing behavior of a consumer(s) can be influenced by different disciplines such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, and economics and these disciplines need to be studied together to bring out the best estimates about consumer behavior (Peter & Donnelly, 2010). Social relationships and interactions have a huge influence on the evolution of the human brain and decision-making. Social factors such as family members, relatives, friends, status in the society, and the role of a person in the society influence consumer purchasing behavior. For example, video games are not highly advertised but the increase in sales is exponentially growing over the years. I believe, in the case of video games, social factors such as friends, family, coworkers have a huge influence on consumer behavior.
Consumer purchasing is an individual activity of purchase, whereas organizational behavior is a collective decision-making activity or purchase to satisfy the end use. Consumer behavior mainly derives from individual tastes, preferences, budgets, or needs. On the other hand, organizational purchases are always influenced by bigger things such as environmental factors, political factors, technological factors, legal factors, social responsibility, and competition (“Factors Determining Organizational, n.d.).
In a 2007 interview, when a reporter asked Steve Jobs about a suggestion of Apple design and pricing to appeal to smaller elite? Steve Jobs responded by saying that our goal is to make the best personal computers in the world and products we are proud to sell and recommend to family and friends. He also mentioned that Apple is striving to keep the prices low but there some stuff in the industry that we do not want to ship them the customers. His response shows, how Apple was mindful in making purchasing decisions to provide safe and functional products to its customers.

The Social Factors are the factors that are prevalent in the society where a consumer live in. The society consists of several individuals that have different preferences and behaviors. These varied behaviors influence the personal preferences of the other set of individuals as they have a tendency to perform those activities which are acceptable to the society (“What are social factors”, 2016).

Organizational buying:
The behavior of an organization shown in buying goods or services is called organizational buying behavior. The organizations buy goods or services for business use, resale, produce other goods or provide services. Business and industrial organizations buy goods to use in business or produce other goods (“Factor determining organizational”, n.d.).
Organizational can be influenced by several factors. They are Environment factors, Technological Factors, Social Responsibility, and Competition.
Connection between consumers and an organization:
If we think about it both consumer buying and organizational buying might undergo through same process when making a decision about buying. Consumers and organizations, when they want to buy certain product or service based on their needs they would evaluate how each of them vary or what would be a best product or service for them. For example when we are making a purchase lets a shampoo we look through various brands that are available, different types in them their cost etc. similarly as does organizations. Consumers as well as organizations have similar goal in mind when they are making a purchase i.e. to satisfy needs or wants.
